Velas Resorts in Mexico has announced the appointment of Susan Hanlon to its meetings and incentives team as northeast regional sales director under the direction of Cynthia Kunz, global sales director of meetings and incentives. Hanlon is responsible for managing sales and events in the MICE industry in the Northeast region of the United States. Her territory includes Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Maine, Vermont, Michigan, Wisconsin and Minnesota.
“With over 25 years of distinguished experience in luxury hospitality, Susan brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her new role with us at Velas Resorts,” said Kunz.
Hanlon’s career includes such notable positions as director of operations at Journey Masters, plus leadership roles at upscale hotels including Hard Rock and Saddlebrook Resort. Her insight and track record in hotel group sales position her as an instrumental asset in driving Velas Resorts’ presence and service standards offered within the meetings and incentives division, the company said.
Velas Resorts’ all-inclusive properties include Grand Velas Los Cabos, Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit and Grand Velas Riviera Maya. In Puerto Vallarta, Velas Vallarta is a family-friendly resort located on Banderas Bay, while Casa Velas is a boutique adults-only hotel located on the Marina Vallarta Golf Course. Mar del Cabo, a boutique hotel on Mexico’s Baja Peninsula, opened in December 2018 as its only European-plan offering. The adults-only Grand Velas Boutique Los Cabos is a new 79-all-suite hotel, which opened in January 2024.
