W Changsha Debuts in China's Hunan Province

W Hotels Worldwide has debuted in central China with the opening of W Changsha in Hunan province. Owned by the Hunan Yunda Industry Group, the hotel, showcasing a futuristic design, is the brand's eighth in the country and is located in the heart of the city’s business and shopping district.

A 30-minute drive from the Changsha Huanghua International Airport and 15 minutes from the Changsha South Railway Station, W Changsha is easily accessible and connects directly to the Beijing-Hong Kong-Macau Expressway. Changsha is also known as “Star City” and its name inspires the hotel’s design narrative, which includes bold geometric patterns mixed with contemporary artwork.

Upon arrival, “Avenue of the Stars,” a mixed-media landscape combining digital, interactive and sound art, transports guests to Runway, a destination bar in the Living Room, the brand’s spin on the traditional hotel lobby.

The hotel’s 345 guestrooms and suites offer modern amenities complemented by smart technology, with walls depicting planets, constellations and nebulae through a “meow eye cabin” LED screen emulating space exploration. From the 26th floor to the 28th floor (the highest) is the triple-story Extreme - WOW Suite (the brand’s spin on the presidential suite), which offers over 10,700 square feet of living and leisure space, including a private garden and a swimming pool.

Tropics, the all-day restaurant, has an open-concept kitchen and offers local and international cuisine. Shinn Yen, on the other hand, celebrates Changsha’s culture through dining and art, showcasing the region’s spicy flavors. A live cabaret show remixed with Hunan traditional opera animates the dining experience every evening. At night, Runway hosts musical performances.

W Changsha offers over 10,700 square feet of event space across five flexible rooms. In the foyer, guests are greeted by a graffiti and pop-art sculpture titled “Fist Bump”—the international expression of a friendly greeting. Every meeting room is multifunctional and equipped with the latest audiovisual technology. At W Recess, guests can choose from a range of food and beverage options.

Guests can relax by the reflection pool or head for WET, an expansive pool with a three-meter “Space Cat” sculpture. The hotel also features a fully equipped 24/7 gym, which also offers dance classes, besides the brand’s Away Spa.
