San Diego: Four Waterfront Venues for Meetings and Events

San Diego is becoming a top meetings and groups destination in Southern California. It offers 70 miles of shoreline, nearly 150 days of sunshine per year and an assortment of neighborhoods to visit. Planners in search of a venue with a view can choose from four hotels in the greater San Diego area this season.

Situated just steps from the famed Gaslamp District with expansive views of the marina, Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina offers approximately 270,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting space, with a total of 83 venues across the property. Most recently, the hotel unveiled updates to its Coronado Terrace, a favorite venue among planners, including upgraded flooring, metro-coastal design elements, new seating, LED lighting, and more.

Located in the heart of the coastal Southern California village Del Mar, L’Auberge Del Mar is a seaside luxury resort that offers nine indoor/outdoor venues affording views of the Pacific Ocean. Planners can book L’Auberge Del Mar’s Pacific Terrace for hosting ceremonies or receptions that can accommodate up to 200 guests. L’Auberge Del Mar has introduced a range of new “Restorative Group Offerings” designed to maximize productivity, increase focus and reignite creativity. The offerings includes access to spa treatments and facilities; power breakfasts, wellness shots and mocktails; and post-meeting programming such as “Sip and Spa” nights or “Under the Stars” sound bath and breathwork sessions.

Positioned along the Mission Bay Park pathway, San Diego Mission Bay Resort offers eight indoor and outdoor event spaces, all with bay views. Groups can enjoy one of the five outdoor venue options and engage in some destination-inspired team-building activities or head inside to enjoy one of the 15 indoor meeting spaces. The resort’s collection of fully renovated facilities also incorporate a variety of new “Restorative Group Offerings” that include access to licensed spa therapists and spa facilities, wellness enhancements during meetings such as recharging stations with Therabody and aromatherapy, wellness-focused snacks and beverages, and contemplative walks around the Bay.

Situated along the tip of Shelter Island, Kona Kai Resort & Spa’s eight event venues afford views of the San Diego bay, city skyline or its expansive 520-slip marina from anywhere on the property. Kona Kai recently completed a massive overhaul of its Point Loma ballroom, one of its most high-demand venues on property. The resort’s menu of “Restorative Group Offerings” aim to bring wellness into the meeting room. Offerings include pre-meeting power breakfasts, mini-spa sessions, access to recharging stations showcasing spa music, nutritional snacks, and special turndown services.
