Saint John’s Resort in Michigan Unveils $50 Million Renovation Plans

Saint John’s Resort in Plymouth, MI is undergoing a $50 million renovation. The 200-acre property is located 24 minutes from downtown Detroit and Ann Arbor. It hass 118 rooms, two bars and restaurants, and over 50,000 square feet of event and wedding space.

With a history that dates to the late 1940s, Saint John’s Resort originally opened its doors as a seminary, then closed and reopened as a retreat center for youth and families, before converting to a conference center and hotel. In 2021, the Pulte Family Charitable Foundation acquired the Inn at St. John’s and began the transformation.

Saint John’s Resort is home to the revamped Five Steakhouse, which sports a lounge, dining room and an outdoor terrace with gardens, lounge seating, fire pits and string lights. Other facilities include an indoor pool, jacuzzi and water bubbler for kids, a fitness center with Peloton bikes, a four-season heated Trackman driving range and a short game practice area.

As part of the renovation, the new Grotto Wine Bar is expected to open this summer, offering an extensive wine list, craft cocktails, beer and small plates. Additionally, The Garden Pavilion, a new indoor-outdoor venue accommodating up to 400 guests is opening this June. Additional openings in spring 2024 include a championship Cardinal Golf Course; The Little Cardinal, a seven-hole, short, par three course; two-acre putting course; a new F&B outlet; and The Monarch, a 17,000-square-foot event space.

The resort is part of the Pulte Family Foundation’s “Humanitarian Hotels” strategy, undertaking initiatives for employees, guests, and their communities to serve those in need. Additionally, 100 percent of the net profits from the resort are donated to educational and humanitarian initiatives from Metro Detroit and around the globe.
