The Puerto Rico Convention Center District Authority has handed ASM Global a long-term renewal contract to manage three landmark Puerto Rico venues, thus extending the company's two-decade-long strategic and operational role with those properties. These properties include the Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot, Puerto Rico Convention Center and the iconic Antiguo Casino.
The Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot, located at the "Golden Mile" of the island capital of San Juan, is the biggest indoor arena in Puerto Rico dedicated to entertainment. Dedicated in 2004 with a performance by Van Halen, it accommodates up to 18,500 spectators. Antiguo Casino de Puerto Rico is a historic Beaux-Arts architecture-style building dating from 1917, offering verdant gardens, balconies, white marble floors and a grand central staircase; it is on the national Register of Historic Places.
The Puerto Rico Convention Center is the largest convention center in the Caribbean and one of the most technologically advanced in the Americas. It has more than 600,000 square feet for multiuse events, meetings, conferences and exhibitions and can accommodate up to 25,000 visitors simultaneously.
The continuing success of these three venues reflects ASM Global’s collaboration with the government to elevate the island beyond its fame as simply a collection of beautiful beaches to one of the world’s great entertainment destinations.
