MeetingPackage Announces Key Appointments

Group booking provider MeetingPackage has announced additions to its leadership team. All new members share the company’s mission of having 100,000 venues bookable by the end of 2025 in real-time with the ease of booking hotels or travel.

Mika Kiljunen, the chairman of the company’s board for the past three years, has relocated to Finland and joined the company as the COO. He has over 30 years of experience in the travel and hospitality industry. “I have been following the company closely as the chairman of the Board, and as I finished my latest project in Asia and relocated back to Finland, it was a brilliant time to join MeetingPackage also operationally. I am sure I can bring the needed structure and processes to the organization as we are soon closing our Series-A round of finance, which will enable our accelerated growth,” said Kiljunen.

Jussi Virtanen has joined the team as the VP of design. As a designer, Virtanen has been the go-to person in the Nordics for many scale-ups, such as Smartly, Freska and Nosto. He will play a significant role in bringing the MeetingPackage brand, design and user experience to the next level. “It is a perfect time for me to join MeetingPackage, as the company has established a solid customer base and a product that its customers highly recommend. I will ensure that the venue users and their customers will get the same user experience that any best B2C software offers,” said Virtanen.

Ahti Urb has joined as an engineering manager helping to build sustainable processes for the growth ahead. Urb has already seen the hyper-growth phase while working with Skype Engineering Systems for over 10 years, including before and after being acquired by Microsoft. Since then, he has worked as the CTO and engineering manager for Omniva prior to joining MeetingPackage. “The technology that MeetingPackage has built is unique and ahead of any competition in the market. My responsibility is to make sure we will stay ahead of the competition and establish an environment that will allow us to scale up our engineering team with more than 30 new hires in the coming 12 months,” he said.

Joonas Ahola, CEO and founder of MeetingPackage, said, “We are super happy to have Ahti, Mika and Jussi join the team. Their experience in different business areas gives us a solid foundation to start our post-pandemic growth. Every growth story has its growth pains, but with the experience coming from Ahti, Mika and Jussi, we can avoid unnecessary pitfalls.”
