ICC Sydney Announces 30 Team Member Promotions

The International Convention Centre Sydney (ICC Sydney), managed by ASM Global, has announced 30 team member promotions from January to April 2023. Acknowledging the individuals’ contributions and potential, the promotions support ICC Sydney’s commitment to invest in its workforce as the venue delivers a robust calendar of events in the first five months of the year.

ICC Sydney offers its team hands-on experience, paired with a training program and pathways to progression, which it says contributed to the recent wave of promotions, including those in food and beverage supervisor, security supervisor and audio visual floor manager roles. It also supported the recruitment of casual hires, up 150 percent since April 2022. The number of casual team members hired at ICC Sydney from January to April 2023 is a 158 percent increase in the number employed from January to April 2022.

Geoff Donaghy, CEO and group director of convention centers at ICC Sydney, said “These promotions recognize how important it is to acknowledge, reward and invest in the development of great talent. This is particularly important as the event industry goes from strength to strength, and as ICC Sydney continues to experience strong demand for events in 2023 and beyond.”

ICC Sydney is set to host thousands of local, interstate and international visitors in the second half of this year, including the 45th International Engineering in Medicine and Biology Conference (July 2023), SXSW Sydney (October 2023) and Impact X Summit (November 2023). These events alone will host thousands of people, with ICC Sydney’s exceptional team essential to delivering these.

Luke Fleming, director of human resources at ICC Sydney, said that in FY22 alone, the venue engaged in more than 2,147 internal and external training courses and invested in 3,441 training hours for its diverse team of events professionals.
