Questex Expands Into Affordable Housing and Multifamily Sectors With Latest Acquisition

Questex — the parent company of Luxury Travel Advisor, Travel Agent Central and Meeting Spotlight as well as ULTRA, CMITE and GMITE — is making a major move into the affordable housing and multifamily real estate markets. The company announced this week it has acquired the event and media assets of Affordable Housing Finance and Multifamily Executive, marking a significant expansion of its operational real estate portfolio.

The acquisition underscores Questex’s broader strategy to scale into high-growth sectors tied to the built environment — a move that aligns closely with its recent investments in branded residences, global hospitality forums, and real estate investment platforms.

“The affordable housing and multi-family markets are experiencing rapid growth amid increasing urbanization and rising global demand for accessible housing,” Paul Miller, CEO of Questex, said in a statement. “This acquisition enables us to bring our proven expertise in high-impact events, data-driven digital platforms, and actionable insights to these expanding sectors. It reflects our commitment to helping people live better and longer by investing in industries that shape how we live, work, and experience the world.”

With the U.S. projected to see a 17% rise in home prices from 2024 to 2029 (according to U.S. News & World Report) and amid ongoing affordable housing shortages, the integration of these new brands puts Questex in a strategic position to support both private and public stakeholders seeking insight, community, and solutions.

“This addition reinforces our leadership in real estate and aligns with our broader strategy of serving global and scaled sectors that are reshaping the built environment and the experience economy,” added Alexi Khajavi, Group President of Hospitality & Operational Real Estate — a newly formed division at Questex that brings together the company’s living and lodging media and events under a unified banner.

The acquisition follows a string of strategic moves by Questex in the hospitality and real estate sectors, including its 2023 acquisition of the NYU International Hospitality Investment Forum (IHIF), the 2024 launch of IHIF Asia, and the debut of BxR, the first U.S.-based event focused on branded residences.

By uniting hospitality, real estate investment, and now affordable housing and multifamily living under one umbrella, Questex is aiming to create a 360-degree platform for decision-makers navigating the fast-changing landscape of the built environment.
