The Westin Los Angeles Airport Receives Major Glow-up in 2023

The Westin Los Angeles Airport will unveil a $45 million renovation in late 2023. The hotel is undergoing a transformation to match Los Angeles’ ongoing tourism boom, as well as LAX’s multibillion-dollar modernization project.

The centerpiece of the hotel’s renovation is the refreshed lobby and lounge area. Connecting guests to nature, the biophilic design used throughout the property will include water elements, native Southern California plant life and organic and natural materials. Guests will discover L.A.’s cultural history through a residential program of local art, hand-crafted artifacts, and a re-envisioned local market.

The renovation also includes updated and enhanced meeting space. Highlights include a 13,100-square-foot ballroom space with 18-foot ceilings and natural light, besides a state-of-the-art theater space.

The Westin Los Angeles Airport offers guests easy access to one of the Los Angeles area’s newest sports and entertainment hubs such as Hollywood Park, home to SoFi Stadium, an indoor-outdoor venue that hosted Super Bowl LVI in 2022 and will be the site of the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the Olympic Games in 2028. Kia Forum, an indoor arena with a calendar packed with live music, sports and other entertainment events, is located next to Hollywood Park.

The Westin Los Angeles’ renovation arrives in tandem with several exciting developments in Los Angeles. The Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is in the midst of a multibillion-dollar modernization project anticipated to go through 2023, including a new rental car facility located across the street from the hotel. As one of the largest public works programs in the city’s history, the project is expected to bring even more global travelers through the city, and projected overnight tourism economy in 2023 is expected to surpass the 2019 record year with $26.3 million in spending. Meanwhile, the Metro LAX-DTLA Connector will also be a game-changer providing more accessibility to downtown L.A. attractions from the airport, expected to be complete in 2023—just in time for the completion of the Los Angeles Convention Center expansion in 2024.
