Visit Salt Lake Welcomes Over 1,000 New Hotel Rooms

Following the announcement of its best booking year ever, Visit Salt Lake (VSL) is welcoming more than 1,000 hotel rooms to the downtown convention district. VSL recently celebrated the grand opening of the West Quarter project with Le Méridien and Element, was on hand to open the new Hyatt Regency Salt Lake City convention center hotel in time for the return of the “Outdoor Retailer Winter” show in January and anticipates a new Asher Adams from Marriott International’s Autograph Collection of hotels in fall of 2024. The Evo Hotel, an outdoor lifestyle brand, is also new to the market having opened in late 2022.

The first dual-pad project combining Marriott brands, Le Méridien Salt Lake City Downtown and Element Salt Lake City Downtown marked their grand opening the week of April 17, 2023. Le Méridien offers 144 guestrooms and suites, with floor-to-ceiling windows and emerald tile-adorned showers. Element Salt Lake City Downtown offers 126 sustainable and bright rooms and suites with city-view floor-to-ceiling windows, fully equipped kitchenettes and spa-like bathrooms with eco-conscious amenities. With seasonal menus created by Executive Chef Jacqueline Siao, the property’s signature restaurant, Adelaide, is an urban brasserie. Van Ryder is the first full-scale hotel rooftop experience in Salt Lake, offering views of the city and the Wasatch mountains, with a menu including cocktail cuisine.

The 25-story Hyatt Regency Salt Lake City officially opened its doors on October 17, 2022, debuting as the first Hyatt Regency hotel in Utah and the only hotel adjoining the Salt Palace Convention Center. The hotel has 700 guestrooms and suites, with floor-to-ceiling windows, offering views of the city skyline and surrounding mountain peaks, and 60,000 square feet of event space. Four dining venues on-site include Contribution, an upscale street-facing lounge; The Salt Republic for breakfast, lunch and dinner; Market for a local artisanal snack on the go; and Mar | Muntanya, which celebrates communities in northern Spain.

Slated to open in autumn 2024, the new Asher Adams is an adaptive re-use of Salt Lake’s historic Union Pacific Train Depot and new construction of a 225-key Autograph Collection by Marriott International. The Asher Adams will have 13 historic guest suites and a new eight-story guestroom structure, multiple F&B outlets, 9,000 square feet of meeting and function space, and open-air gathering spaces.

Opened in February 2022, Evo Hotel has 50 rooms and easy access to gear shops. Pretty cool: It houses climbing and skating facilities on-site, located within a 100,000-square-foot historic building in the Granary District. The hotel also offers a rooftop cocktail bar, penthouse patio, lounge spaces, event spaces and flexible meeting rooms.
