AC Hotel by Marriott San Juan Condado has announced an expansion project that will add 2,000 square feet of new indoor event space to the 233-room property, which already has 10,000 square feet of event space, including one meeting room, three boardrooms and one rooftop outdoor venue. The work is expected to be completed this summer.
The project will transform an unused area near the lobby into an event space with a capacity for up to 100 people, said Rey Fernandez, the hotel's general manager, in a written statement. The space will be able to be divided into two rooms.
The hotel is also planning to add a new Executive Boardroom with a capacity of 14 people, as well as relaunch its AC Lounge bar and restaurant and reinvent its rooftop concept. The rooftop, which is where the pool, gym, yoga room and AC Kitchen are located, is already used for indoor and outdoor smaller scale events. The rooftop space will be rebranded as the BAr.C.lona Rooftop, which will include adding a new bar to the pool area and transforming the AC Lounge into a tapas bar for travelers and locals from 11:00 a.m. onward. The AC Kitchen will continue to serve European-style breakfast in the morning.
The AC Lounge on the hotel's first floor will be relaunched with a new food and beverage concept blending different design elements to create more synergy with the adjacent restaurant La Bodeguita, which offers a la carte lunch and dinner menus.
The project will represent a total investment of $800,000.
